the t stroke
According to golf industry stats, putting is responsible for around 40% of all the shots we hit on the golf course. That being the case, the single most important club in the bag must be a putter! And the most practised area of the game must be putting!
Unfortunately, putting is often an afterthought! I’ll hit a couple of putts on the way to the first tee, find a stroke! Or I don’t need to practise or I can’t hole everything anyway so why bother, part of the game!
Interestingly we often hear statements like “If I could have holed that 3 footer on … hole I would have won today, or why can’t I hole just one putt in a round?” And yet these comments are invariably made by golfers who haven’t been on a practise green all year!
As a specialised putting coach Andy Gorman, noticed that almost every golfer would improve their skills and ball-roll within the initial putting lesson, only to regress back to their old habits within a few rounds of golf.
He noted that there were no training products capable of reinforcing the lesson once a player left his putting studio/practise green. So during the Christmas break whilst working with some of his trusted students, he created the fore-runner of the T-Stroke product we see today. “If I can teach the skill and a player can train that skill, they will improve! But if I don’t see them regularly then they will slip back into bad habits”. Perfect practise makes perfection!
