Ok, so, here we go with me writing what will hopefully be an interesting blog !!, This week has been a bit crazy, Sunday and monday were spent in essex at the five lakes golf club where i was honoured to be part of the england golf team taking on a team from both europe and wales in the 2012 home nations trophy. Day one was fourball better ball stableford and i was fortunate enough to be paired with the legend that is Mr Tony Lloyd ( england captain, world cup winner, need i go on ), and i am pleased to say that as a team we were on fire and brought home a score of 41 stableford points which equates to minus 5 !!!! great golf shots were flying around left right and centre and Tonys tee shot into the very tough par 3 10th hole which finished 5 foot away and the birdie putt was hole with panache, will stay with me for a long time. we were up against two of my good friends and great golfers, brendan slavin and roger hurcome, which meant that we had a constant stream of sledging and banter that turned a very poor condition course into an enjoyable day, although we did convincingly beat them at the end of the round :-) the first round was played over the links course and the second round is plyed over the lakes course, the second round was singles stableford and i was playing with mr mike lincoln so the signs were good, the course was much much better on the lakes than it was on the links and after a so so front nine i really started to light it up on the back and slotted three nice birdies in and holed some good putts too.
thanks must go to my suffering caddy ( Colin Curtis) who did a sterling job of keeping me both in check and more importantly in play !!!!! also massive thanks to dunky and kung, for coming and supporting on the first day. it really was appreciated.
Anyways, a win followed and i had the honour of bringing the trophy home with me untill it is time for Tony to hold on to it.
also today had a conversation with a reporter from the independant on sunday and there may well be a piece on me in it in the very near future, Keep em peeled, till next time, may your drives be long and the putts run true.
