Ok, so April is nearly gone and what an April it has been.
Firstly, i have got to say a massive thanks to my clothing sponsor who sent me som really great looking and feeling trousers and shirt from the Ian Poulter collection, I must say that i can't wait to hit the fairways in my logo'd up Function18 gear. If i can play as good as i will be looking then Europe had better watch out this season as i will be untouchable lol.
The golf game feels like i am actually improving and getting some much need consistancy in my iron play. Also the addition of the Taylormade RBZ 3 wood and #3 rescue have made some really dramatic improvements to distance from the green that i can now attack from, with par 5's now possibly reachable with two good shots. my putting still leaves a bit to be desired but i do think that when i pick up and swing the right putter i will know instantly and then hopefully the confidence will improve and as such the scores will drop !!! The weather has not helped with the amount of rain recently but i have missed a week of golf this month, but it was for a very good reason....... Interested ???...................... Read on !
Well the reason was this, i took part in, and am extremely proud to say i completed the 2012 London Marathon. oh and by the way, i didnt run it, i PUSHED it in a standard everyday wheelchair !! 26.2 miles of absolute pain but with the thousands of people that lined the route cheering everyone on and giving me personally an absolutely fantastic reception. What will always live with me is the way the crowd reacted as i turned the very last corner from birdcage walk into the mall, as i looked to my left i noticed that they were showing me on the big screen and i had a tear in my eye as the crowd went mental and i pushed over the line. The sense of achievement is overwhelming and it is made even better with the knowledge that hopefully my completing the marathon in a normal wheelchair ( along with 4 other brave pushers ) will open up the entry to thousands more disabled people who wish to take part. This years race was the final trail to see if using a normal wheelchair is in fact feasable and indeed safe. Me and the other wheelies all had to start with the mass start instead of where the elite wheelchair racers would start, and from what i can tell so far, it has been a resounding success but of course people of blog land, i will keep you informed.
