Czech masters 2014 first round.
Okay, so today was the first day of the Czech disabled golf masters 2014.
As defending champion I was in the first group, teeing off at 9 AM this morning. After two good days of practice where I shot 73-74 and a good Pro-Am yesterday, I was full of confidence and
My swing was in a good good place and I was ready to go and rock 'n' roll. I started with a very solid par on the opening hole, unfortunately I then proceeded to make a very silly bogey on hole number two which is a very tricky par 3, 190 yards uphill, to a very well protected green with bunkers front and left and mounds above and right. And it was at this point that my putting/deserted me and I made two more double bogeys and one single bogey on the front 9 all due to my bad putting which left me +6 after nine holes with a combined score of 42.
I knew I was up against it for the back nine and decided that I would have to try and struggle through with my putting/as there was no point trying to change anything mid-round on the course.
The back nine was slightly better than the front nine but again I couldn't make a putt and I missed a hat full of birdie chances, and I was missing par putts which would've helped my score to a lot more respectable standard. The total gross score on the back nine was +3 (39) which combined with the front nine gave me a cumulative total of 81 which is +9.
This was certainly not the start I was looking for as I was determined to defend my title, however I feel this may be a bridge slightly too far for tomorrow, but I intend to attack attack attack, and try and go as low as I possibly can put all my eggs in one basket and hopefully finish tomorrow's round with a respectable score that will lift me up leaderboard to a more comfortable position. I am currently sat in fifth place and as such should be going out in the second to last group tomorrow. Whilst I am writing this blog, I am sat in the cart, on the putting green, knocking countless balls into silly little holes and the strange thing is, the little buggers are going in now !!!!
Oh well, that's golf I suppose, I certainly can't complain with the success I had here over the past two years. I would like to take this opportunity, to thank all my amazing sponsors and everyone that makes it possible for me to attend these events and to compete at the highest level. Many thanks for reading my blog and don't forget to check back tomorrow to see how I did, and whether the attack attack attack method wasn't the correct choice or whether my blog will tell you that in fact maybe I should've been a little bit more conservative. Well that's it to me for now I will speak to you tomorrow love you all Monk out.
