Czech disabled masters 2014 day two.
Well after a very poor day yesterday on the greens, I knew that I had it all to do today,
I was laying eight shots back from the leader and in fifth place.
My whole mindset today was to attack the course as best I could, and try to be in a situation at the end of the round where I left everything I had on the course I took the opportunity to speak to another disabled professional golfer about my particular putting stroke andwe went on to the putting green just to try a few things out. After adjusting my position of the ball and going back to my claw grip I felt a lot more comfortable and was getting a good roll on the ball and was getting a much better judgement of pace. With the potting sorted and striking the ball nicely on the range I was ready to go out and attack. I knew that you get from fifth place on to the podium was going to take a good game, but I was certainly up for the challenge. I found a little bit of fire and passion in my belly and there was no way I was leaving today's round disappointed.
My tee time was at 9:20 AM and I was feeling good. I started with two nice solid pars and the putter was feeling good. I dropped a silly bogey on 3 due to an errant drive and after two bad drives on four and six accounted for another couple of bogies I was suddenly +3 and thinking oh dear I'm Gonna have a day just like yesterday. And then I got onto the par 59 and after a massive drive a great second shot and approach I've rattled in a beautiful birdie putt and that left me with a front nine total of 38 and +2. I then made birdie on 10 before making par on 11 12 13 14 and then for some reason I end up making three silly bogies in the last four holes to leave me again with a back nine total of 38 which is +2 for a total of + 4. I was pleased with today's game I putted very nicely and I was able to find my way from fifth all the way up to second place which is another result I was looking for but after yesterday's round I kind of played myself out of it. I'm certainly not going to be too disappointed as I had won the title the previous two years and the second place this year is not too bad. Now I have a slight handle on my putting stroke I now look forward towards Holland and my defence of my Dutch open title in 10 days time. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Duncan for caddying for me and giving me support and encouragement when needed. And I'd also like to thank the Czech disabled golf association for yet again running another fantastic tournament. And I'd like to thank all my wonderful sponsors and supporters for getting me to this place and allowing me to compete on a regular basis. And lastly to my family for giving me the support love and encouragement that any sportsman needs to try and succeed in their chosen field. Thanks very much reading my blog I do appreciate all of you that come onto my website and all of you that send messages of support, thank you so much, you don't know how much it means to wake up in the morning of the final round & find 15 e-mails from people around the world wishing me good luck.
So that's it from me for now, it's time for me to head upstairs have a shower and get changed the prize ceremony. So to all of you out there thank you and goodbye for now.
Monk out.
