So another tournament has finished and the results are in, but first..........
I played pretty well today and knew I had a mountain to climb after being in 3rd place overnight. The round started well and I started to claw shots back straight away. This continued through the front nine and on the 10th tee I had a 1 shot lead ;-)
Then of course comes the extremely difficult back nine which has obviously been designed by a sadist !!! I managed to hold on until the 14th where I had a bad misread on a putt and it caused me to slip to 2nd, tied with the Italian number 1 player. It was nip and tuck between us until the 18th green and I am pleased to say that I held my nerve and managed to hole the putt the secured me a second place finish. I pushed as hard as I could today but it wasn't quite enough to topple piere jean ( France ) from the top spot although I must admit piere jean played the back 9 fantastically well and is a very deserving winner.
All in all I can't be too disappointed with the result and I am now sat in the number 2 position on the order of merit and feel that I can push forward to take the top spot back in the Czech open in 4 weeks time.
Massive thanks to my caddy Duncan for all his help this week and for keeping me in play when the chips were down ( not an easy task )
Also thanks to my clothing sponsors function18.com for the IPD trousers, there were most comfortable and nice and cool in the 30 deg heat today.
Here's to the next tournament
Monk out.
