So in the last couple of weeks, I have made some major changes with what is in the bag. Firstly i have now got the TaylorMade R1 Driver fitted with a 60g Fujikura Fuel shaft. It has certainly given me a bit more distance, bu i am working on certain swing changes too so i wont see the full benefit untill that all beds in but i am pleased so far. Secondly, I have now changed from the R11 irons to the new Rocketbladez. These irons are silly long but also very playable. I am certainly going to be playing with the shafts on thse irons as I am not overly keen on the rcketfuel 85g that are there as standard. But even saying that, the performance of these irons is out of this world and if you are in the market for some new bats, they are certainly worth a look. I have kept my current wedges in the bag, ( titlest 48*, callaway forged 52*+58* ) and i have kept the Dave Hicks Putter in the bag as that would be certain suicide to change to anything else !!! The contents of the bag is a work in progress but I should have everything exactly as I want it shortly.
Also I was lucky enough to play the Brabazon Course at the Belfry on Thursday with Tony Lloyd and the winners of the childrens christmas wishlist charity auction. These were two excellent young golfers named James Ward and Liam Batty. We had a really really good day despite the sub zero temperatures and i think the boys appreciated the spectacular and historic course. They both attacked the course with gusto and both played some very nice golf. It was an absolute pleasure to spend the day with the boys. We were of course treated brilliantly by the belfry team as usual and Stuart in particular has been great.
So after a long winter training period, some snow, not a lot of course time and a week in Florida, tomorrow myself and wonder woggle ( my caddy ) Will be on the road for 6am to head up north as I make my first Professional start of the 2013 Season. . I am playing in Manchester on the NW Professional Tour and will be using it as a bit of a tune up and obviously it will be great experience to play in as many of these type of events I can. I know I still need lots of work on my game before I start to compete but it certainly doesn't feel as unobtainable as it once did.
I'm starting to build what is looking like a strong team behind me in regard to coaching and can feel the benefits of a hard winter program so hopefully this year I can really make my mark as the first amputee to play as a professional and hopefully soon I will be joined by others that want to follow the same dream.
I feel it is going to be an exciting year
