Today was another day on the range. I worked through the bag from wedges up to my driver. Just trying to get a good rythmn and a solid set up.
I went to kirtlington golf club and made use of the range facilities that they have there. It's not high tech but it is usually nice and quiet and gives me plenty of time without being disturbed. That said, they are a very friendly club and the 9 hole academy course they have is a little treasure, just right for working the wedges and the shorter irons out " on course " without having to go on the main track.
I am striking the ball pretty solid at present but after playing with my new camera and making some videos of my swing, it is blatantly obvious to me that I need to find a way of getting a LOT more stability on my right hand side through impact and through the follow through. Sometimes my right leg, which is the prosthetic, decides its going to bugger of in a completely independant direction than the rest of me. I dont know if maybe having the carbon blade foot ( whilst great for walking ) is just too unstable and offers too big of range of movement. I also have a torque converter as an ankle joint, allowing for a twisting action of the foot and I'm thinking of dumping that too.
I will have to head to the Oxford centre for enablement and see what they think they can make up for me but I don't think there is a quick fix, after all, my swing hasn't done me too bad so far, but I can't help wondering if it would improve my game with more stability or is the fact that I am so unstable through impact the reason I play as I do now. Will losing that movement destroy my swing or improve it ?
No idea, but I'm going to have to experiment, as long as I have one leg set as I have now so I can go back to a kind of default I should be ok :-).
Anyways, the plan for tomorrow is more training at the range if we don't get significant snow. If there is too much snow, it might just be a day on the Xbox on tiger woods lol
